Rev. Paula Byfield began the journey of bringing her vision into being when she planted the seeds for theÂ Spiritual Empowerment Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The Center had its first Sunday Service on Nov. 2, 2003. Rev. Paula's journey in Religious Science began in Kingston, Jamaica at The Temple of Light, an affiliate of Religious Science International. Rev. Paula obtained her practitioner and ministerial licenses while attending Oakbrook Life Enrichment Center, an affiliate of United Church of Religious Science (UCRS).
Rev. Paula and UCRS began their history together in 1998. She developed and facilitated meditation services, book discussion groups, workshops and other events including a short metaphysical skit. Rev. Paula was actively involved in the Junior League of Baltimore, an organization of women volunteers and it was her intention to be even more involved in the Baltimore community.
Her vision was for the Spiritual Empowerment Center to be the vehicle through which an increasing number of lives are transformed, uplifted and balanced. She firmly believed that given the tools, everyone can live up to his or her highest potential.
Rev. Paula held a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science from the University of the West Indies; a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Havana; and a Master of Divinity from the Holmes Institute. Rev. Paula Byfield made her transition on July 20, 2005.
